Want to play hard rock/metal but don't want to tune down? This is the pedal for you. It let's you tune your whole guitar down up to a whole octave with the press of a pedal. It's amazing for a bedroom session where you want to go from standard to those heavy metal tunings (providing you don't need to tune one or two strings up or down from there). Making it sooo easy. I love it.

On the pedal, it has a bunch of semitones with a little LED. Meaning, if you want to tune from, say, standard to C standard, all you have to do is select Nr. 4 and you're done.

Each semitone is called a "half step". A "full step" is increments of 2. Going from standard to C standard requires 2 full steps down, or 4 semitones. See how that works? Going from Drop D to B standard, is just going 2 semitones (or one full step) down.

Just select the semitones, press of a button, and bob's your uncle.

There are two small things to consider though.

One, it down tunes all the strings at once. Two, the strings of your guitar are still in Standard. So the sound coming from your amp is different than what your ear picks up from your strings. This can be a tad annoying. But it's just another excuse to turn your amp up :)

I wrote an article here on famous metal downtunes and how to use The Drop pedal to get there.
